• Smoky Quartz is a variety of quartz crystal that ranges in color from light grayish-brown to deep black, with its signature smoky coloration caused by natural exposure to radiation which affects the crystal's aluminum content. While it maintains the typical hexagonal crystal structure of quartz, Smoky Quartz is distinguished by its translucent to transparent appearance with a glassy luster, often appearing as if filled with wisps of smoke.
• *Note: Take care to choose only natural smoky quartz crystals, as there are a significant amount of stones on the market that are artificially produced. This process is done by exposing clear quartz to intense levels of radiation. These stones typically are very black and non-transparent.
