• Labradorite is a feldspar mineral known for its stunning iridescent play of colors called labradorescence, where the stone flashes brilliant blues, greens, purples, and golds when light hits it at certain angles. The base color of the stone is typically gray to dark gray, but when tilted in the light, it displays a dramatic color shift known as schiller effect or optical phenomenon. The spectrum of colors displayed is caused by light reflecting off a twinning surface within the stone, not the stone’s surface itself.
